1. Controller and scope 

This Cookie Policy explains how EIT Manufacturing South S.r.l, with registered office at Bastioni di Porta Nuova 21, 20121 Milan (MI), Italy, uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the website https://www.eitmanufacturing-south.eu/ .

This Cookie Policy must be read together with the Website’s Privacy Policy, which describes in more detail how the Company processes personal data and the rights of data subjects. 

2. What cookies are

Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags, SDKs or local storage tools, may also be used to perform functions comparable to cookies and are collectively referred to in this policy as “cookies” or “tracking tools”. 

Cookies can be classified according to: 

• origin: first-party cookies, which are set directly by the Website, and third-party cookies, which are set by domains different from the Website; 

• duration: session cookies, which are deleted when the browser is closed, and persistent cookies, which remain stored for a longer period or until the user deletes them; 

• purpose: technical/strictly necessary cookies, analytics cookies, functionality cookies, and profiling/marketing cookies. 

3. Applicable rules and consent 

Under the GDPR, the Italian Privacy Code and the guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority, the use of technical cookies and certain analytics cookies configured in a way that limits the identification of users does not generally require the user’s prior consent, but users must be informed of their use. Conversely, profiling, marketing and other non-essential tracking tools may only be used after obtaining valid, informed and freely given consent through an appropriate banner or consent management mechanism. 

In particular, the Italian Data Protection Authority’s 2021 guidelines require that: 

• non-essential cookies are not installed before consent is given; 

• consent cannot be obtained through pre-ticked boxes or implied behaviour; 

• simple scrolling of a page does not constitute valid consent; 

• users must be able to accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or manage their preferences in a granular way through a banner or equivalent interface; and 

• the choices expressed by users should be documented and respected for an appropriate period, generally no less than six months, unless the conditions of processing change significantly. 

4. Types of cookies used on the Website 

The Website may use the categories of cookies described below. The specific cookies currently in use, their duration and whether they require consent are indicated in a dedicated table in section 7. 

a) Technical and strictly necessary cookies 

Technical cookies are necessary to allow navigation on the Website and to enable its basic functions, as well as to ensure security and prevent fraudulent activities. These cookies are typically used, for example, to: 

• record the user’s choice regarding cookie preferences; 

• maintain the user’s session and balance the load among servers;

If, following a review of the Website, it is confirmed that only technical cookies are used, this table should be simplified accordingly and the Website should clearly indicate that no analytics, profiling or other non-essential cookies are used. 

8. Recipients and transfers of data 

In connection with the use of cookies and similar technologies, the data collected may be accessed by: 

• internal staff of the Company authorised to manage the Website and its services; 

• providers of technical and IT services, hosting and cloud services, analytics tools, consent management platforms, newsletter providers and other third parties that support the operation of the Website, acting where applicable as data processors;

10. Right to submit a complaint 

Users who consider that the processing of personal data carried out through cookies or other tracking tools infringes applicable data protection law may lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) via the channels indicated at https://www.garanteprivacy.it/, or with the supervisory authority of their habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement. 

This is without prejudice to the right to bring proceedings before the competent judicial authority. 

11. Updates 

This Cookie Policy may be updated to reflect changes in the cookies used on the Website, in the services provided, or in the applicable legal framework. The updated version will be published on the Website and will indicate the date of the latest revision.
