XR rappresenta il livello abilitante di ci\u00f2 che ricercatori e decisori politici definiscono sempre pi\u00f9 spesso come mondi virtuali di nuova generazione.\n\nSi tratta di ambienti persistenti, interconnessi e immersivi, nei quali possono svilupparsi interazioni sociali, economiche ed educative con un livello di presenza e interattivit\u00e0 che va ben oltre gli strumenti digitali tradizionali basati sullo schermo (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd-ilibrary.org\/en\/publications\/an-immersive-technologies-policy-primer_cf39863d-en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">OECD, 2022<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/stories\/2023\/01\/defining-and-building-the-metaverse-davos-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">World Economic Forum, 2023<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oggi XR sta andando oltre la fase di sperimentazione, entrando in applicazioni industriali concrete. Per EIT Manufacturing South, questo cambiamento \u00e8 al centro di una pi\u00f9 ampia serie di approfondimenti dedicata a esplorare come XR e i mondi virtuali stiano trasformando la manifattura, le competenze e gli ecosistemi dell\u2019innovazione.\n\nQueste tecnologie sono direttamente collegate alle priorit\u00e0 della Commissione Europea in materia di competenze digitali, all\u2019European Skills Agenda, alla roadmap di implementazione dell\u2019AI Act e agli obiettivi dell\u2019Unione Europea in termini di autonomia strategica nei settori deep-tech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In una conversazione con <strong>Alessandro Pollini, Interaction Design in Smart Objects Lab,<\/strong> e <strong>Ioannis Chatzigiannakis<\/strong><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><strong>, Professore<\/strong>&nbsp;presso&nbsp;<strong>Sapienza Universit\u00e0 di Roma,<\/strong>&nbsp;EIT Manufacturing South analizza l\u2019impatto concreto di XR oggi e cosa questo significhi per le aziende, i giovani professionisti<\/span> e il futuro del design industriale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dove XR genera valore concreto oggi e dove resta ancora solo una promessa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">XR ha attraversato <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/moorinsights\/2022\/01\/27\/xr-and-the-metaverse-at-ces-2022-wading-through-the-hype\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">diverse fasi di forte attenzione mediatica<\/a>, soprattutto con la diffusione del concetto di metaverso. Tuttavia, secondo <strong>Chatzigiannakis<\/strong>, alcuni ambiti stanno gi\u00e0 dimostrando risultati misurabili.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La formazione e l\u2019istruzione rappresentano oggi i casi d\u2019uso pi\u00f9 maturi, con benefici evidenti in termini di efficienza, riduzione dei costi e accessibilit\u00e0. XR permette di apprendere attraverso esperienze immersive senza interrompere le linee produttive, consentendo ai lavoratori di formarsi in modo sicuro e ripetibile all\u2019interno di ambienti simulati.\n\nQuesti vantaggi sono sempre pi\u00f9 rilevanti per le organizzazioni manifatturiere che cercano percorsi pi\u00f9 rapidi di aggiornamento e riqualificazione delle competenze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oltre alla formazione, XR sta dimostrando la propria efficacia anche negli ambienti operativi, supportando l\u2019interazione uomo-macchina, migliorando la sicurezza attraverso avvisi in tempo reale e rendendo i flussi di lavoro pi\u00f9 efficienti.\n\nAnche le attivit\u00e0 commerciali e il coinvolgimento dei clienti beneficiano delle dimostrazioni immersive, che possono ridurre i tempi decisionali e migliorare la comprensione del prodotto, soprattutto nel caso di soluzioni industriali complesse o ad alto valore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allo stesso tempo, le implementazioni su larga scala restano ancora limitate. Molte applicazioni sono tuttora in fase pilota e le organizzazioni stanno valutando con attenzione dove XR sia realmente in grado di generare valore, evitando di seguire semplicemente una nuova ondata di entusiasmo tecnologico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">XR e design: dal concept alla sperimentazione<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Una delle trasformazioni pi\u00f9 significative riguarda i processi di progettazione e innovazione. Gli ambienti virtuali consentono ai designer di simulare prodotti, processi e interazioni con gli utenti nelle prime fasi del ciclo di sviluppo, riducendo la necessit\u00e0 di prototipi fisici e accelerando i cicli di feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Un aspetto fondamentale \u00e8 che XR supera la logica sequenziale che caratterizza molti processi di innovazione: <\/strong>invece di testare un\u2019idea alla volta e investire mesi prima di capire se funziona, i team possono <strong>sviluppare e confrontare diversi scenari contemporaneamente <\/strong>all\u2019interno dello stesso ambiente immersivo, mettendo alla prova configurazioni alternative, percorsi utente e soluzioni in parallelo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-background is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"background-color:#f0f0f0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cPensate all\u2019ultimo importante ciclo di sviluppo di un prodotto\u201d, <\/em>afferma <strong>Pollini<\/strong><em>. \u201cA un certo punto, magari dopo tre mesi, vi siete resi conto che la direzione iniziale richiedeva una revisione significativa. Tra rilavorazioni, ritardi nel lancio e tempo del team coinvolto, i costi sostenuti possono essere relativamente contenuti. Ora immaginate che il vostro team avesse simulato cinque versioni di quel prodotto in un ambiente immersivo nelle prime tre settimane. Avrebbe individuato il problema prima ancora che venisse prodotto un singolo componente fisico. Quel ritardo di sei mesi diventa una decisione presa in due settimane. Con una frazione della perdita economica, si ottiene un investimento nell\u2019esplorazione. I prototipi nelle fasi iniziali possono essere validati con utenti reali prima ancora che venga prodotto un singolo componente fisico, generando evidenze sul comportamento degli utenti che riducono il rischio di intraprendere una direzione progettuale errata su larga scala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un ulteriore vantaggio fondamentale riguarda la collaborazione da remoto. <strong>Team distribuiti in sedi diverse possono interagire sullo stesso oggetto o ambiente digitale, migliorando l\u2019allineamento e riducendo i tempi decisionali.<\/strong> Team multidisciplinari, ingegneri, designer e responsabili di business possono co-progettare e valutare insieme soluzioni nello stesso spazio immersivo, eliminando le perdite di informazioni che normalmente si accumulano nei passaggi tra funzioni diverse e che consumano silenziosamente una parte significativa del budget destinato all\u2019innovazione aziendale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">XR per costruire un vantaggio competitivo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per le aziende manifatturiere, i prossimi due o tre anni porteranno probabilmente a un\u2019adozione graduale ma concreta delle tecnologie XR.\n\nI costi rimangono ancora una barriera, soprattutto per quanto riguarda l\u2019hardware avanzato, ma sono destinati a diminuire con la maturazione dell\u2019ecosistema. Allo stesso tempo, gli sforzi di standardizzazione e l\u2019integrazione con sistemi di intelligenza artificiale contribuiranno ad accelerare l\u2019adozione, aiutando le aziende a passare dalla sperimentazione alla diffusione su larga scala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pollini<\/strong> sottolinea che <strong>il punto di forza di XR risiede nella sua flessibilit\u00e0<\/strong>. <em>\u201cLa realt\u00e0 estesa pu\u00f2 adattarsi da semplici soluzioni di realt\u00e0 aumentata fino ad ambienti completamente immersivi, rispondendo a scenari tecnici specifici come la manutenzione da remoto e le operazioni industriali complesse\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>La manutenzione emerge come uno degli ambiti ad alto impatto. <\/strong>XR consente ai tecnici di accedere a informazioni contestuali, condividere prospettive a distanza e risolvere problemi in tempo reale, riducendo i tempi di fermo e migliorando il trasferimento di conoscenze all\u2019interno delle organizzazioni.\n\nTuttavia, la <strong>disponibilit\u00e0 di competenze rappresenta un elemento ancora pi\u00f9 critico<\/strong>L\u2019implementazione di XR richiede non solo competenze tecniche, ma anche la capacit\u00e0 di progettare casi d\u2019uso significativi e di allineare la tecnologia agli obiettivi di business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Chatzigiannakis<\/strong> evidenzia un\u2019ulteriore sfida: <strong>la rapidit\u00e0 dell\u2019evoluzione tecnologica<\/strong>. Hardware e software migliorano rapidamente, creando incertezza per le organizzazioni che stanno valutando investimenti in questo ambito. Gli early adopter potrebbero dover reinvestire man mano che le piattaforme evolvono; tuttavia, aspettare troppo a lungo rischia di far perdere importanti vantaggi competitivi. <em>\u201cChi si muove per primo sostiene sempre un costo\u201d<\/em>, osserva. <em>\u201cMa ritardare il coinvolgimento con queste tecnologie pu\u00f2 significare perdere opportunit\u00e0 importanti in termini di efficienza, sviluppo del prodotto e capacit\u00e0 decisionale.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Il divario di competenze e l\u2019opportunit\u00e0 per i giovani professionisti<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Se la tecnologia sta avanzando rapidamente, la preparazione delle persone rappresenta il vero elemento distintivo. <strong>XR richiede competenze ibride:<\/strong> interaction design, ricerca sugli utenti, storytelling, visualizzazione 3D e comprensione dei contesti industriali. Gli strumenti low-code e le piattaforme pi\u00f9 accessibili stanno riducendo le barriere d\u2019ingresso, ma rimangono fondamentali percorsi strutturati di apprendimento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per i giovani laureati nelle discipline STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) e per i professionisti nelle prime fasi della carriera, questo rappresenta un\u2019opportunit\u00e0 significativa.\n\nImparare a combinare progettazione assistita dall\u2019AI, ambienti immersivi e prototipazione rapida pu\u00f2 aprire nuove prospettive professionali nei settori della manifattura, dello sviluppo prodotto e della gestione dell\u2019innovazione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-background is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"background-color:#f0f0f0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Una preoccupazione frequente tra i leader industriali riguarda la possibilit\u00e0, per le organizzazioni, di investire tempo nello sviluppo interno di tali competenze.\n\nLa risposta, secondo <strong>Chatzigiannakis<\/strong> cambia completamente il modo di guardare al problema: <em>\u201cNon \u00e8 necessario trasformare gli ingegneri in designer o i tecnologi in strateghi aziendali. L\u2019obiettivo \u00e8 fornire a chi gi\u00e0 guida i processi \u2013 product owner, dirigenti di livello intermedio e senior, responsabili dell\u2019innovazione \u2013 un linguaggio comune e una metodologia condivisa.\n\nAlla fine del percorso, un responsabile tecnico e un direttore marketing possono co-progettare un prototipo nello stesso spazio immersivo, nello stesso pomeriggio, e metterlo realmente alla prova insieme. Nessun passaggio intermedio. Nessuna perdita di informazioni tra le diverse funzioni.\n\nPerch\u00e9 \u00e8 proprio il tempo perso nella traduzione tra team diversi a consumare silenziosamente gran parte del budget per l\u2019innovazione. Si tratta di comprendere i bisogni delle persone e selezionare la tecnologia pi\u00f9 adatta, con un obiettivo chiaro.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questo approccio si riflette in iniziative come il corso <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eitmanufacturing-south.eu\/it\/xr-driven-design-thinking-and-innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"XR-Driven Design Thinking and Innovation\">XR-Driven Design Thinking and Innovation<\/a> sviluppato da <strong>EIT Manufacturing South<\/strong> in collaborazione con <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sdr.web.uniroma1.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"SDR Centro Interdipartimentale Design Research \u2013 Sapienza Universit\u00e0 di Roma\">SDR Centro Interdipartimentale Design Research \u2013 Sapienza Universit\u00e0 di Roma<\/a><\/strong>. Il corso si concentra sull\u2019apprendimento interdisciplinare, riunendo prospettive provenienti dal design, dalla tecnologia e dal business, con l\u2019obiettivo di preparare i partecipanti ad affrontare scenari industriali reali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guardando al futuro: tempistiche, interdisciplinarit\u00e0 e scelte strategiche<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nei prossimi anni, la convergenza tra mondi virtuali e intelligenza artificiale in rapida evoluzione \u00e8 destinata a diventare una delle combinazioni pi\u00f9 potenti a disposizione delle organizzazioni industriali.\n\nPi\u00f9 che tecnologie concorrenti, queste due dimensioni si stanno dimostrando profondamente complementari: l\u2019AI accelera e arricchisce ci\u00f2 che i mondi virtuali rendono possibile. Allo stesso tempo, gli ambienti immersivi offrono all\u2019intelligenza artificiale un contesto concreto, umano-centrico e orientato allo scopo in cui operare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In pratica, questo significa che le capacit\u00e0 di simulazione e prototipazione stanno diventando pi\u00f9 rapide, intelligenti e reattive.\n\nGli strumenti basati sull\u2019AI sono oggi in grado di generare scenari visivi, popolare ambienti virtuali con dati realistici e adattare le esperienze in tempo reale alle esigenze degli utenti, riducendo le attivit\u00e0 di progettazione che in passato richiedevano settimane a poche ore.\n\nIl risultato finale non \u00e8 semplicemente una tecnologia migliore: \u00e8 una capacit\u00e0 qualitativamente diversa per le organizzazioni di esplorare, decidere e agire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Chatzigiannakis<\/strong> considera la tempistica un elemento decisivo e spiega che l\u2019opportunit\u00e0 risiede proprio in questa integrazione: <em>\u201cI mondi virtuali integrati con un\u2019intelligenza artificiale in rapido miglioramento stanno creando uno strumento che \u00e8 pi\u00f9 grande della somma delle sue parti.\n\nXR fornisce all\u2019AI un contesto spaziale e concreto, mentre l\u2019AI offre ai mondi virtuali l\u2019intelligenza necessaria per adattarsi, personalizzarsi e scalare.\n\nInsieme possono ridurre i cicli di progettazione, trasformare il modo in cui i team collaborano e supportare decisioni pi\u00f9 rapide e meglio informate.\n\nLe organizzazioni che oggi si avvicinano a questa combinazione non stanno semplicemente seguendo una tendenza: stanno costruendo un vantaggio competitivo duraturo.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un invito all\u2019industria e alla prossima generazione<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le aziende manifatturiere dovrebbero iniziare a esplorare XR partendo dagli ambiti in cui l\u2019impatto \u00e8 gi\u00e0 misurabile, come formazione, manutenzione e progettazione collaborativa, sviluppando progressivamente competenze interne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anche per i giovani professionisti l\u2019opportunit\u00e0 \u00e8 altrettanto significativa.\n\nXR si colloca all\u2019intersezione tra trasformazione digitale, sostenibilit\u00e0 e innovazione centrata sull\u2019essere umano.
