DESCRIPTION:An event organised by EIT Manufacturing South and Banca Investis\, bringing together entrepreneurs\, business-owning families and investors to explore a shared question from different perspectives: how can the knowledge capital that enables a manufacturing company to remain competitive over time be identified\, measured and transferred? \n\n\n\nIn a market shaped by continuous transformation\, geopolitical tensions\, technological evolution and new business models\, a company’s most valuable asset often lies in its know-how: the combination of skills\, relationships and processes built over generations. Innovators and investors view this knowledge capital with the same objective\, albeit from different perspectives: to recognise its value\, reduce the risk of its loss\, and enable it to drive growth. \n\n\n\nThe discussion will focus on three key themes: \n\n\n\nThe complementarity of technology portfolios as an investment criterion \n\n\n\nInvestment\, acquisition and merger transactions are never purely financial. Their success increasingly depends on the ability to integrate processes\, data\, expertise and technology platforms. Investing in manufacturing innovation requires a combined view of technologies to understand where portfolios complement each other and where they can create value for investors. \n\n\n\nThe event brings together EIT Manufacturing South’s industrial and innovation perspectives with Banca Investis’ expertise in wealth management\, corporate finance\, and advisory services for entrepreneurs and business-owning families. Together\, they will provide participants with practical tools to view their know-how as an asset to be valued\, measured and transferred. \n\n\n\nPatents as a strategic and wealth asset \n\n\n\nWhat is not documented\, measured and properly assessed risks being lost over time. A manufacturing company’s patent portfolio is not only a means of protecting intellectual property\, but also a wealth asset that can be invested in\, licensed and financially valued—one of the most tangible ways to make a competitive advantage that is often tacit\, both measurable and defensible. \n\n\n\nSuccession as a process of innovation \n\n\n\nGenerational succession is not simply a matter of inheritance: it is an opportunity to recognise and strengthen family and corporate know-how\, or to make it available to new investors. He works with businesses to define projects and access services and funding opportunities\, fostering connections with startups\, universities\, research centres and other stakeholders within the innovation ecosystem. \n\n\n\nDrawing on his experience in innovation and collaborative project development\, he helps turn industrial needs and challenges into concrete opportunities for business growth\, innovation\, and strategic development. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarco Pelosi+\n\n\n\n\nMarco Pelosi is Head of Capital Markets and Alternative Assets at Banca Investis. \n\n\n\nHe began his career at Mediobanca in the Equity Capital Markets division before moving to London to join Citigroup\, where he served as Vice President\, Equity Capital Markets\, advising on capital markets transactions in both the Italian and international markets. He subsequently returned to Italy and joined UniCredit as Director of Equity Capital Markets\, contributing to the development of the mid-corporate segment and supporting numerous companies in their access to the financial markets. \n\n\n\nAt Banca Investis\, he leads Capital Markets and Alternative Assets\, advising entrepreneurs\, companies\, and institutional investors on corporate finance transactions\, capital raising\, and investment solutions across public and private markets. Drawing on extensive experience gained at leading international financial institutions\, he combines in-depth knowledge of capital markets with a strong ability to support companies in their growth and strategic development. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmanuela Rondi+\n\n\n\n\nEmanuela Rondi is Associate Professor of Strategy and Family Business at the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano\, where she studies how entrepreneurial families innovate and pass their businesses on across generations. She leads the IF! Project (Family Businesses – Innovation and Future)\, which analysed the innovation strategies of more than 6\,300 Italian family-owned SMEs. She is Co-Scientific Director of the Family Office Observatory\, the author of more than 50 academic papers\, an editor of Family Business Review and Journal of Management\, a member of the IFERA Board\, and Academic Coordinator of the Next Gen programme at Family Business Network International. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModerated by\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlessandro Garnero+\n\n\n\n\nBorn in Milan on 16 February 1967\, he is a B2B publishing professional with over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing sector. \n\n\n\nHis publishing career began at Tecniche Nuove S.p.A. in 1989 as an Editor\, working on monthly magazines dedicated to mechanical components and engineering. Since 2000\, he has held the position of Editorial Director at Tecniche Nuove S.p.A.\, where he coordinates the Manufacturing Division and oversees a team of 22 editors. Not open to the public. \nAccess 2 Finance facilitates connections between investment funds and startups operating in the manufacturing sector. \nStartups are a key driver of technological renewal within the manufacturing ecosystem. Supporting their growth therefore requires creating the right conditions for scale-up and access to capital. \nAccess 2 Finance is a programme designed by EIT Manufacturing South to connect manufacturing startups with investors and facilitate investment and growth opportunities.
